My name is Janice Chalovich and I am honored to be a volunteer for Purples Pansies and their fight to raise money for early detection and a cure for pancreatic cancer.
I am married and have one stepson. I have lived in Georgia for the past 6 years, previously residing most of my adult life in New Jersey.
I recently retired after being in the corrugated packaging industry for almost 40 years. I worked as a Customer Service Manager for most of my career and over the past 5 years was a Senior IT System Analyst with WestRock.
I do have a personal reason for supporting Purple Pansies. My father died 20 years ago at the age of 85 and was never really sick a day in his life, until he became ill one day and was taken to the hospital. At that time, he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and was given three months to live. He didn’t make it through his third month. Being a child of a parent with pancreatic cancer, and knowing there is no early detection and that it could be genetic, is why I so thankful for people like Maria Fundora and the Purple Pansies organization.
Please help us make a difference in the fight against pancreatic cancer.
Greetings Janice and Thank You for your help!
I’m very sorry for your loss. We too lost a Best Friend and Buddy just 2 years ago to pancreatic cancer. He was big, strong, and fine until late autumn. Then complained of back pains (lifting his young daughter on his shoulders?) and got shots, muscle relaxers, other chiropractic and medical treatments – thinking it wasn’t serious. He started losing weight and complained of stomach pains around 1st of year. I said: “Get to a different doctor, this could be pc!” Five more months – January til May and lots of tests and delays, He too was then diagnosed stage IV. Two months and 3 days later, he passed away. It was all too fast, and the final moments were without warning. He went from big, strong and always cheerful to “gone” in 7 months. And he was only in his 50’s much too young. This seems such a waste, a crime and horrible loss. Why did medical tests and results take so long and with delays in between? His family and friends are devastated.
