Teona Ducre is a pancreatic cancer survivor from El Paso, TX and  now resides in Roswell, GA with her two children, Grant and Sydney and her life partner, Raoul Spears.

Teona was diagnosed at age 41 on April 1, 2016 (yes, April Fool’s Day!)  After a battle that included 6 months of very aggressive chemo therapy, Teona was eligible for surgery.   The day before Thanksgiving 2016, she was released to go home and celebrate the holiday with her family and friends.

Soon after getting diagnosed, Teona began volunteering with the Pancreatic Cancer Network (Pancan) to advocate for all those impacted by this devastating disease.  Her volunteer work includes working with Mayor Gerry Wood of Roswell to sign a proclamation for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day, participating in the planning of Purple Stride Atlanta, traveling to Washington DC for National Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill and attending the Pancreatic Cancer Volunteer Summit in San Diego.  In addition, Teona shares her story through attending speaking engagements and interviews for both print and broadcast.  She has been a guest on several local and national television shows including Atlanta Unplugged and CBS.

Teona is now in remission and continues her volunteerism  through serving as the Missions Chair for Pancan.  She is dedicated to educating people about the disease and spreading awareness locally and nationally in the hopes of  bettering outcomes for people diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and doubling the survival rate.
